"Focusing on universal symbols found in Native American art and mythology, I seek to evoke an individual response, guiding the viewer to discover his or her own sense of awe and gratitude in relation to the mystery dimension of the universe. As the past is always reflected in the present, my art reveals that connection which links us all." Mona Eagle
Mona Eagle, Texas artist, combines the vivid colors and feeling of spaciousness she has observed in her travels throughout Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, imbuing her work with the vibrancy of the Southwest, its farreaching legends, and its timeless splendor. Mona receives much of her inspiration from Native American folklore and traditions. From the soaring poetry of the Aztecs to the haunting hunchback flute player of the Plains Indians, she infuses her art with an interpretation and arrangement of a mythical imagery uniquely her own. Her primary mediums are serigraphy and airbrush acrylics. Expressing her love of both language and art, Mona took her degrees in English and Art, and has since pursued further study in Commercial Art. She has been both a high school art teacher and a commercial illustrator, but she currently exhibits her Southwest style artwork in galleries, juried art shows, and street festivals. She is a member of the Austin Graphic Arts Society, the Austin Visual Arts Association, and the Hill Country Arts Foundation. Mona's home and studio is in Cedar Creek, near Austin, Texas.
